The Hunts
|
2009
The One Shot Hunt Club SA and Forever Resorts have partnered to provide
for the first time a unique and economical African experience for both
hunters and non-hunters. This full 2009 OSHC SA event consists of two
segments for which participants may individually register.
 |
Fishing and Touring Segment
– Saturday April 18th through Saturday April 25th.
The focus of this event segment will be the fantastic deep sea
fishing at Sodwana Bay on the Indian Ocean in Kwa-Zulu, Natal. The
variety of fish available includes Black Marlin, Sailfish. Dolphin,
Blue Marlin, Tuna, Kingfish, Sea Bass, Striped Marlin, Dorado and
others. It will commence at the four star Forever Resorts Centurion
in Lyttelton (between Johannesburg and Pretoria) and end at the four
star Forever Resorts Isiyala (near Loskopdam where the OSHC event
will be held). In route to and from Sodwana Bay, visits will be made
to unique African curio centres. The charges for this segment are
all inclusive with the exception of alcohol, two lunches and guiding
tips. |

One Shot Hunt Club Segment
– Sunday April 26th though Thursday April 30th.
This is the more traditional OSHC segment. It will commence with
registration at the four star Forever Resorts Isiyala near
Loskopdam. Activities during this segment will include hunting for
impala and guinea fowl, game drives, local tours and visits to some
of the schools and clinics that have been supported by the OSHC. The
charges for this segment are all inclusive with the exception of
alcohol and guiding tips. Also included are airport transfers both
ways. |
Participants may attend the One Shot Hunt Club Segment without
participating in the Fishing and Touring Segment or they may
attend the Fishing and Touring Segment without participating in
the One Shot Hunt Club Segment.
2008
 |
The 2008 OSHC SA event was held July 20 through July 24
at the Forever Resorts at Loskop Dam
northeast Johannesburg. The website for the resort is listed below.
The animal hunted for 2008 was
the impala as well as guinea fowl and pheasant. A fishing
competition was added.

2007

The seventh hunt was held in South
Africa on April 22 through April 25 at the
Aventura Tshipise resort northeast of
Pietersburg. The animal
that was hunted in 2007 was the impala.
Participants in the hunt were both men and women. For 2007 there
were nine shooters. These teams represented hunters from South
Africa and North America.

The winning team for the rifle
shooters was Elmarie
Minnaar and
Dave Tallman. |

There
were no winning teams for either the bow or pistol shooters. |

2006
 |
The
sixth hunt was held in South Africa on April 23 through April 26 at the
Aventura Tshipise resort northeast of Pietersburg. The
animal that was hunted in 2006 was the impala. Participants
in the hunt were both men and women. For 2006 there were seventeen shooters. These teams represented hunters from
New Zealand and North
America.

David Kitscha and
Chuck Porter. |

There were
no winning teams for either the bow or pistol shooters.

The
fifth hunt was held in South Africa on
June 21, 2005 at the
Aventura Tshipise resort northeast of Pietersburg. The
animal that was hunted in 2005 was for the first time the impala. Participants
in the hunt were both men and women. For
2005, there were seven teams of two shooters. These teams represented hunters from
New Zealand, North
America and South Africa.

winning team for the shooters was Larry Carlson and
Peter Knott. |

The winning and only team bow hunting was
John Demopoulos
and
John Kitscha.

2004

The
fourth hunt was held in South Africa on August
10 2004 at the Christiana Resort near Kimberly. |
 | The
animal that was hunted in 2004 was again the springbok. Participants
in the hunt were both men and women. For
2004, there were eleven teams of two shooters. These teams represented hunters from North
America and South Africa.

The
winning team for the new shooters was
Greg
Gardner and
Jason Gardner. |

The
winning team for the past shooters was
Bill
Hawes and
Glen
Williamson. |

2003

third hunt was held in South Africa on May
27 2003 at the Christiana Resort near Kimberly. |
 | The
animal that was hunted in 2003 was again the springbok. Participants
in the hunt were both men and women. For
2003, there were fourteen teams of two shooters. These teams represented hunters from North
America and South Africa.

There
were no new shooter winners. No team was able to kill two
springbok with one shot each. |

The
winning team for the past shooters was
Glen
Williamson and
Dave
Bahl. |

farm near Kimberly. |
 | The
animal that was hunted in 2002 was again the springbok. |

2002, there were twelve teams of two shooters. These teams represented hunters from North
America and South Africa.

The
winning team was Charles Fuellgraf and
Jeff Rebich.

 | Participants
in the event brought duffle bags stuffed used tennis shoes, totaling 1,600
pairs, which were distributed to native
children. In addition to the tennis shoes, 11,000 pounds of corn
flour that was purchased by members of the club was distributed to the
native children.

2001
The
first animal hunted by the members of the club was the African
Springbok. The Springbok is an animal that is very similar to the American
Antelope.

2001, ten teams of two people were the shooters. These teams
represented hunters from North America and South Africa.

winning team was Hector Kitscha and Bob Thomsen.
